Frequently asked questions

Some answers to the most common questions.

How do you make reservations?

Online or by phone.

At the bottom of each tour page is a button to Book Online, or you can make reservations by calling us at (808) 891-2223. We recommend making reservations at least a few days in advance, but don't hesitate to call us and ask about any last second discounts we may have!

What's our cancellation policy?

Tours are non-refundable if cancelled under 48 hours.

For specially discounted dates, the reservation is non-refundable unless we as a company cancel for a safety or weather related reason.

Weather.

What are the policies regarding weather?

If you ever have a question about the weather conditions, please email or call us to be sure

What should you bring with you?

Here's what you'll need.

We recommend you come wearing a swimsuit and sandals (flip-flops are fine). Additionally, please bring a bottle of water, towel, sunscreen and sunglasses. Optional items you may choose to bring include a hat and a disposable underwater camera.

What's included in the tour prices?

Everything but gratuity and tax basically.

Additionally, only Maui Eco Tours features guided snorkeling at the various snorkeling locations, full assistance during launching and landing as well as full guide service throughout all aspects of the day on the water.

What is not included?

Just a few things.

Not included in our tour prices are gratuity for your guide, bottled water, towels, prescription snorkel masks, wetsuits and sandals.

Can we bring our own snorkel gear?

Absolutely!

You are welcome to bring anything you'd like and that certainly includes snorkeling gear. We recommend you bring anything of your own that you'd like to use and if you're missing any essential gear, we'll fill in the gaps for you.

Is there a maximum height and/or weight?

Not precisely, no.

We have kayaks that can accomodate up to 550 lbs of weight and the tallest of tall people and thus this isn't a huge concern. Being tall isn't an issue for our advanced tours, but it's a good idea to be a healthy adult who enjoys the idea of getting out, getting some exercise and potentially challenging yourself depending upon the conditions on the day of your trip. Our intro tours are meant to cater to anyone and we welcome you joining us, no matter you particular situation! Let's get out there and see the scenery!

Do we provide food?

Beach lunch yes, breakfast no.

All of our tours include a full beach snack lunch of grilled chicken skewers, fresh fruits and a selection of fruit juices. In addition we can accommodate vegetarian, vegan or other special requests with at least 24 hours notice. We do not provide breakfast and we recommend you have a small breakfast before joining us in the morning.

I'm not a great swimmer...

You're welcome to come!

We frequently have guests join us that aren't great swimmers and even some that don't swim at all! The key thing is that you can't be afraid of the water. We do require guests to wear Life Preservers during the kayaking portions of the trip and many guests choose to continue wearing them during the snorkeling as well. So even if you're not a great swimmer, you can participate, just so long as you're not afraid of the water and/or ocean.

What time does it end?

Around 11am or so.

All of our tours generally end around 10:45-11:15am. That said, things can run a bit longer if we don't get out on time, so it's important to arrive on time for check-in. If for some reason you need to run off immediately when we retun to shore (around 10:30-10:45), you are able to leave at that time and take your lunch with you as they are all individually packed lunches.

Do we rent wetsuits?

No.

We find that most all guests don't need wetsuits and thus we don't actually offer them. The water temperature fluctuates a bit depending upon the season, but it is usually in the upper 70's or low 80's. That said, if you are someone that gets cold easily or you simply would like to wear a wetsuit, most all of the local dive shops do rent and sell such equipment. We always recommend Maui Dive Shop as they have the most locations and excellent service.

I wear glasses. How do I snorkel?

A prescription optical mask.

Due to the enormous range of potential prescriptions we don't offer optical snorkel masks. As we do with wetsuits, we recommend you visit any of the local dive shops to rent a prescription mask. They will be able to get you just the right fit and optical power so that you best enjoy the sights that are seen on our tours.
