Surf Lessons
Come join us for family-friendly-fun in one of the most beautiful places in the world! Our Maui surf lessons are taught by an amazing group of patient and experienced surf instructors.
We offer our Maui surf lessons at one of the best learning spots on the island, Kalama Beach Park in sunny Kihei. We promise it will be one of your most cherished Maui vacation memories.

Our surf lessons are at Kalama Park in Kihei (South Maui). We love this surf spot for its gentle rolling waves, large surf area, and a foot-friendly bottom. South Maui is also famous for its non-stop sunshine, beautiful sandy beaches, and its hang-loose vibe.
If you have family members who do not want to take a lesson, Kalama Park is a large recreational park with shade trees, excellent viewing areas, cafes, coffee shops, and shopping across the street.
On the day of your Maui Surf lesson, we meet at Kalama Park about 15-30 minutes before your scheduled lesson time. We recommend putting sunscreen on 30 minutes ahead of time. Upon arrival, we have you put on a rash guard and some booties. We make sure we have the right size board for your dimensions (size and weight) and you are comfortable.
Next is a thorough and fun beach instruction by one of our friendly guides covering the how-tos, the how-not-tos, as well as the “how the heck do you do that?” of surfing. Launch your board and paddle out with one of our experienced instructors! It’s all about surfing from here on.
At the end, paddle in and retire your rash guard and booties in exchange for some refreshments and snacks. At this point, we promise that you’ll be hooked on surfing. You may want to come out again or rent a board and have some fun on your own!
“I love taking my kids surfing – it’s fun, great exercise and they are learning a lifelong skill. They love it too as it allows them to goof around in the water, challenge themselves and gives them self-confidence. They really like the fact that they can out surf me so easily too! Kids learn so naturally as they can easier emulate what they see and just do it.”
“I can honestly say that surfing with the kids is one of the best activities we can do together as a family. We play in the water and spend quality time having fun together.”
SUP Lessons
Cruise the Maui coastline while you balance on an extra large surfboard for maximum stability! The views both above and below the water are sure to amaze you, with Haleakala and the West Maui mountains in the distance on one side and Molokini Crater and Kaho’olawe on the other.
Our SUP lessons are at Kalama Park in Kihei (South Maui). Below the ocean surface, you can enjoy views of coral reef life. During whale season, you may even be treated to a humpback whale sighting.

Your instructor is excited to get you out on the water enjoying the experience; however, we take a few minutes to go over some instruction and tips on the beach beforehand. With their help, you find yourself on the “sweet spot” of your board, and away you go, paddling effortlessly with a smile and your inner ninja feeling so proud of you!
Our instructors are the kind of guys and gals you want to have as a stand-up paddling buddy. Friendly, happy and encouraging, they get you up and paddling in no time! There’s nothing better than having fun on the water with some positive mojo!
We recommend the 8 a.m. lesson time for groups with kids so we can benefit from the calmest conditions of the day.
About Kalama Beach Park – Kihei
Kalama Beach Park on Maui’s South Shore is a large park blanketed in warm sunshine most days of the year. There is an oceanside grassy area with shade trees for family members to watch, and the area is ideal for learning to surf and paddle board.
Maui is family friendly, and this activity is no exception — we invite families with kids as young as 10 to join a SUP tour.
This is one of the only county-permitted locations for Maui paddle board lessons! There are only a few companies permitted by the county of Maui to teach surfing and stand-up lessons, and we are one of them. We take pride in safe, family-fun lessons.
